This notice explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what your rights are under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who is responsible for your information
Steve Eggleston is the controller of the personal information collected through this website. You can contact me about anything in this notice at steve@steveegglestonwrites.com.
What I collect
When you send an enquiry through the form on this website, I receive:
- your name and email address;
- your phone number, if you choose to give it;
- your answers about your project and anything you write in the message box;
- technical details recorded with the submission (your IP address and browser type), which help to protect the form from spam and misuse.
Please only include in your message what you are comfortable sharing at this early stage. If your story involves sensitive matters, such as health or legal proceedings, we can discuss the details later.
How I use it
I use this information only to read and reply to your enquiry and to discuss whether we might work together. The lawful bases are taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to people who contact me. I do not use it for marketing, I do not sell it, and I do not share it with anyone for their own purposes.
Where it is stored and who processes it
Your enquiry is stored in this website’s database and sent to me by email. The website is hosted by Hostinger, and email is handled by my email provider. These companies process the information only on my behalf. Because I also work from Los Angeles, your enquiry may be accessed from the United States; where information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards as required by UK law.
How long I keep it
If we do not go on to work together, I delete your enquiry within 12 months. If we do work together, I keep our correspondence for as long as needed for the project and for my legal and accounting obligations.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. To make a request, email steve@steveegglestonwrites.com.
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. I would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
